Description

Single-Colour COB LED Strip 24 V – 320 LEDs/m in Four Colours

8 W/m · red, green, blue or yellow · IP20 · 5 m reel · no RGB controller needed · select your colour now

320 LEDs/m8 W/m24 VIP205 mno RGB controller needed50,000 h

This single-colour COB LED strip delivers coloured light as a continuous line – without the visible individual dots of conventional strips. 320 tiny diodes per metre sit closely together beneath a shared cover and merge into an even band of colour for the eye. Unlike an RGB strip it needs no controller: connect the driver and you are done.

Key benefits at a glance

No light dots
320 LEDs per metre create a continuous line.
No RGB controller needed
Just a 24 V driver – connect and light up.
Pure shade
Colour produced in the LED, not mixed from channels.
Cuttable every 5 cm
Adapts to any length without wasting offcuts.
Easy to install
Strong adhesive tape on the back, no tools required.
Long service life
50,000 hours with LED chips by Sanan.

Features in detail

  • COB technology with 320 LEDs per metre for dot-free colour
  • Fixed light colour – no RGB controller required
  • 170° beam angle for wide, soft light distribution
  • Cuttable every 50 mm at the marked points
  • Double-sided adhesive tape on the back, 15 cm lead at both ends
  • Only 8 mm wide and 2.3 mm high – fits narrow profiles and joints
  • Sanan LED chips for a consistent shade across the whole reel

What does COB mean – and why are there no dots?

COB stands for chip on board. In a classic LED strip, individual housed diodes sit one to two centimetres apart on the board – you see them as a row of dots, especially when the strip lies close to a surface. With the COB principle far smaller chips are placed directly on the circuit board and covered together by a silicone layer. At 320 chips per metre this creates a closed luminous surface instead of individual points.

Single colour instead of RGB – when is it worth it?

Why choose a single-colour strip over RGB? Three reasons. First, colour quality: in a single-colour strip the LEDs produce the colour directly instead of mixing it from red, green and blue. The shade therefore looks purer and more saturated. Second, effort: no controller is needed, a simple 24 volt driver suffices. Third, price – both the strip itself and the installation cost less. If you want the same colour permanently, this is the more sensible solution.

Choose your colour

  • Red (622 nm) – intense, warm light for bars, clubs, hospitality and exhibition stands; barely affects the eyes' dark adaptation and therefore also works as orientation lighting.
  • Green (525 nm) – sits in the eye's most sensitive range and therefore appears particularly bright; suits wellness areas, conservatories and decorative lighting.
  • Blue (456 nm) – cool, crisp and technical – popular at bars and counters, in home cinemas, at gaming setups and in exhibition stands.
  • Yellow (585 nm) – warm, near-amber tone – ideal for hotels and hospitality where a warm light tone is wanted; it also attracts considerably fewer insects than white light.

This strip is available in four colours. For a warm, cosy mood we recommend red or yellow, for cool modern design blue, and for a calm natural impression green.

High-quality LED chips by Sanan

The light source consists of LED chips by Sanan. Sanan Optoelectronics was founded in Xiamen in 2000, is stock-listed and is regarded as China's largest LED chip manufacturer as well as one of the three largest worldwide. With coloured LEDs manufacturing accuracy matters especially: even small deviations in wavelength would show as a colour difference along the strip. Sanan sorts its chips to tight tolerances, so the shade stays constant across the whole reel.

Choosing the right driver

The strip runs on 24 volt direct current and needs a driver – but no RGB controller. Calculate like this: 8 watts per metre times 5 metres equals 40 watts for a full reel. As a driver should not supply more than about 80 percent of its rated output continuously, choose at least 50 watts. If you want to adjust brightness, a simple 24 V dimmer between driver and strip is enough. You will find both in our accessories category.

Installation, cutting and routing

The strip is fixed with the double-sided adhesive tape on its back; the surface should be smooth, clean and grease-free. It can be shortened every 50 millimetres at the marked points, where the contacts sit. Bending lengthwise is possible, sharp creasing is not – keep to a bending diameter of at least one centimetre. Also run no more than 5 metres from one supply: voltage drops along the narrow copper tracks over distance, so a longer run glows dimmer towards the end. With several reels, feed each one separately from the driver.

Applications

Coloured LED strips are used wherever light should shape a space rather than primarily illuminate it: as indirect lighting in ceiling coves and behind furniture, in display cases and showcases, at bars and counters, in hospitality and hotels, in exhibition and shop fittings as well as in home cinema and hobby rooms. At 8 millimetres wide the strip fits common aluminium profiles. Note the IP20 rating – it is suitable exclusively for dry indoor areas.
