Description

COB LED Strip 24 V – 2200 K extra warm white, 10 W/m, CRI > 90

512 LEDs/m · dot-free line of light · 900 lm/m · IP20 · 5 m reel · Sanan LEDs

512 LEDs/m10 W/m900 lm/m2200 KCRI > 9024 VIP205 m

With 512 LEDs per metre this COB strip is among the densest we stock. The more diodes sit on one metre, the more finely they merge into a single line of light – and the more light comes out. At 900 lumens per metre it is bright enough to properly light work surfaces rather than just set a mood.

Key benefits at a glance

No light dots
512 LEDs per metre create a continuous, even line.
Excellent colours
CRI > 90 renders wood, fabrics and food true to life.
Cuttable every 5 cm
Adapts to any length without wasting offcuts.
Safe 24 volts
Low-voltage technology for furniture, cases and reachable areas.
Easy to install
Strong adhesive tape on the back, no tools required.
Long service life
50,000 hours with LED chips by Sanan.

Features in detail

  • COB technology with 512 LEDs per metre for dot-free light
  • Colour rendering CRI > 90 Ra for natural colours
  • 170° beam angle for wide, soft light distribution
  • Cuttable every 50 mm at the marked points
  • Double-sided adhesive tape on the back, 15 cm lead at both ends
  • Only 8 mm wide and 2.3 mm high – fits narrow profiles and joints
  • Sanan LED chips for consistent colour temperature across the whole reel

What does COB mean – and why are there no dots?

COB stands for chip on board and describes how the diodes are mounted. In a classic SMD strip, individual housed LEDs sit one to two centimetres apart on the board – you see them as a row of dots, especially when the strip lies close to a wall. With the COB principle, far smaller chips are placed directly on the circuit board and encapsulated together. At 512 chips per metre the individual light sources sit so closely that they merge completely for the eye.

512 or 320 LEDs per metre – which version fits?

Where is the difference to the version with 320 LEDs per metre? Two points: the line of light becomes a touch finer because the chips sit closer together – noticeable above all when the strip runs very close to a surface or is directly visible. And light output rises from 720 to 900 lumens per metre. For pure mood lighting the 320 version usually suffices; as soon as the light really has to brighten a surface, or the strip sits behind frosted glass, the denser version is the better choice.

CRI > 90: colours that are true

The colour rendering index describes how true colours look under a light source. The maximum of 100 equals daylight; anything above 90 counts as very good. This strip sits at CRI > 90 and therefore reproduces even fine gradations correctly – grain in wood, colour transitions in fabrics, the fresh colour of food. Precisely because COB strips often shine on goods or materials from a short distance, the high value shows here in particular.

Colour temperature 2200 K – extra warm white

2200 kelvin sits at the warmest end of the scale and recalls candlelight or a dimmed incandescent bulb. The slightly amber tone feels calming and is popular where atmosphere matters more than brightness: in restaurants, bars, hotel lobbies, wine cellars and living spaces. As indirect lighting behind furniture it creates a very cosy impression.

High-quality LED chips by Sanan

With a strip carrying 512 chips per metre – 2,560 on a 5 metre reel – consistency is everything. Even small manufacturing variations would show as a colour gradient along the length. That is why we use LED chips by Sanan Optoelectronics: the listed company from Xiamen is China's largest LED chip manufacturer and one of the three largest worldwide. Producing at that scale means sorting chips to very tight tolerances – and that is exactly what you see in the finished strip.

Choosing the right driver

The strip runs on 24 volt direct current and therefore needs a driver. Calculate like this: 10 watts per metre times 5 metres equals 50 watts for a full reel. A driver should not have to supply more than about 80 percent of its rated output continuously – so for one reel you need at least 65 watts. Sizing too tightly risks a unit that runs hot and fails early. We stock suitable drivers in accessories.

Installation, cutting and routing

The strip is fixed with the strong double-sided adhesive tape on its back; the surface should be smooth, clean and grease-free. You can shorten it every 50 millimetres at the marked points, where the contacts sit. Bending lengthwise is possible, sharp creasing is not – keep to a bending diameter of at least one centimetre, otherwise the conductor tracks may tear. Also run no more than 5 metres from one supply: voltage drops along the narrow copper tracks over distance, so a longer run glows visibly dimmer towards the end. With several reels, therefore, feed each one separately from the driver.

Applications

Thanks to its high light output this strip serves not only as mood lighting but as real illumination: under wall units above the worktop, in display cases and showcases, in ceiling coves as indirect main lighting, on shelves in retail fittings and in counters and furniture. At 8 millimetres wide and 2.3 millimetres high it fits common aluminium profiles. Important: the IP20 rating permits dry interior spaces only – it is not suitable for bathrooms, outdoors or damp rooms.
